What Does Your House Number Mean in Numerology?

Enter a house, flat or door number exactly as it is written — 101, 3B, 12/4, C-101 — and this shows the arithmetic, the compound number and the root, then which Mulanks the place suits. Nothing here is stored.

The manual method

  1. Take the number as written. House 19 is the number 19, not 1 + 9. That total is the compound number.
  2. If the address carries a letter, convert it with the Chaldean values and add it. 3B is 3 plus B = 2, so 5.
  3. Read the compound number's own meaning first. 19 is "The Prince of Heaven" and 28 is "Loss Through Trust" — two different readings, even though both reduce to 1.
  4. Then reduce to a single digit for the root: 19 → 10 → 1. The root is what most calculators give you, and it is only half the answer.
  5. Compare the root against your own Mulank. Root 1 sits most comfortably with Mulanks 1, 3, 9.

Why 19 and 28 are not the same house

Almost every house-number calculator adds the digits, reduces to one to nine, and stops. That makes house 19 and house 28 identical answers. In Chaldean practice they are not: the two-digit compound is read before it is reduced, and this site already says so on its Chaldean name calculator.

19 is read as "The Prince of Heaven". One of the most fortunate compounds: success, honour and esteem. Read as favourable for new undertakings. 28 is read as "Loss Through Trust". Contradictory: promise and good ideas, but loss through trusting others and the likelihood of starting again. Not the same as 19 despite both reducing to 1.

We publish the whole compound table below rather than quoting the one line that applies to you, so you can see the readings we did not give you as well as the one we did.

Where these compound readings come from, and when

The compound-number readings are Cheiro's, from the system he published in the early twentieth century. They are not ancient Vedic material and we are not going to present them as such — the same position this site takes on the rudraksha mukhi-to-graha mapping, which was systematised from the 1970s onward.

Some of them are blunt. 13 is upheaval, 16 is a shattered citadel, 26 is a grave warning. We have not softened those, because a calculator that only ever returns good news is flattering rather than reporting. Where the tradition has no settled reading for a compound, the tool says so and shows nothing instead of inventing a line.

Flat numbers, door numbers and the letter that gets dropped

A flat number with a letter is the ordinary case in Indian apartments, and most calculators either reject it or quietly discard the letter. The letter is not decoration: Chaldean gives B the value 2 and C the value 3, so 3B totals 5 while 3C totals 6. They are different numbers and deserve different answers.

Labels are not part of the number, though. "Flat", "Block", "H.No" and the "nd" of "2nd floor" are address furniture, and the tool lists everything it ignored so you can check it did not quietly eat a digit.

What this number does not tell you

A house number is arithmetic on an address. It cannot tell you whether you will be happy, prosperous or safe in a home, and nobody can derive that from a number. We will not tell you to reject a house, and we will not sell you a remedy for one. What the number gives you is a reading of temperament — whether the place suits how you already live — and that is worth knowing before you sign, alongside the things that actually decide it: light, water, ventilation, noise, commute and cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I use the flat number or the building number?

The number of the door you actually live behind — the flat or unit number. A building number describes the building, and if you want that reading too, run it separately. Where an address has both, practitioners generally read the flat number as the stronger influence because it is the boundary of the home.

Does the letter in my flat number count?

Yes, and dropping it is an arithmetic error rather than a simplification. 3B and 3C are different numbers: B is 2 and C is 3 in the Chaldean table, giving 5 and 6.

My house number is 13. Should I be worried?

The tradition reads 13 as upheaval and forced change rather than plain misfortune, and we report that rather than smoothing it over. But it is a reading of temperament, not a prediction, and we are not going to tell you to reject a house or sell you a remedy for one. Light, water, ventilation, noise, commute and cost decide whether you will be happy somewhere.

What if the compound number has no reading?

Then the tool shows the arithmetic and the root and says plainly that the tradition has nothing settled for that compound. Cheiro's table covers 10 to 52; above that, practitioners reduce. An empty cell is information — an invented one is not.
