How Life Path 9 is calculated
The Life Path number — Bhagyank in Vedic numerology — is every digit of the full date of birth added together and reduced to a single digit. It is not the same as the Mulank, which comes from the day of the month alone. You can work yours out with the free Mulank and Bhagyank calculator, which shows both numbers and the arithmetic.
Worked example
Someone born on 7 January 1990 (07-01-1990): 0 + 7 + 0 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 27 → 9. Life Path 9. Their Mulank is a different number — the day alone, 7 — which is why the two can disagree.

What a Life Path number cannot tell you
It describes tendencies, not events. It does not fix a career, predict an illness, name a date, or decide who someone should marry, and two people sharing a Life Path are not the same person. Where this site will not compute something, the methodology page says so and says why.
