How to Calculate Your Personal Day Number for Any Date
A Personal Day number tells you what a specific date works out to for you, which is what people are really asking when they look for an auspicious date. You need your birth date and the date you are checking.
The manual method
- Add your birth day and birth month, then reduce to one digit.
- Add the digits of the year you are asking about, reduce, and add that to the figure above. Reduce again — that is your Personal Year.
- Add the month number to your Personal Year and reduce. That is your Personal Month.
- Add the date to your Personal Month and reduce. That is your Personal Day.
What the numbers favour
- 1 — starting something, first approaches, putting your name forward.
- 3 — talking, presenting, anything where you have to persuade.
- 4 and 7 — detail, study, paperwork, the parts that need patience.
- 8 — money conversations, negotiation, signing.
- 5 and 9 — movement, travel, finishing and clearing.
What this number does not tell you
A Personal Day describes what a date suits, not what will happen on it. No date guarantees a result, and a difficult day is not a reason to avoid something necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Personal Day the same as a muhurat?
No. A muhurat is calculated from tithi, nakshatra and planetary positions and needs an ephemeris. A Personal Day comes from your own numbers alone. They are separate systems and this calculator does only the numerological one.
Can I use this to pick a wedding date?
You can use it as one input, but a wedding date is traditionally set by muhurat, which this does not compute. Treat the Personal Day as a preference between dates that are already acceptable on other grounds.
