How to Check a Business Name in Numerology
This scores a company or brand name against the owner's own numbers, which is the check worth doing before registration rather than after. You need the proposed name and the owner's date of birth.
The manual method
- Write the business name exactly as it would be registered and used, including any suffix people will actually say.
- Convert every letter with the Chaldean table and total them.
- Reduce to a single digit.
- Compare that with the owner's Mulank. Numbers reducing to 6, 8 or 9 are traditionally favoured for enterprise, but a name that fights the owner's own number is treated as the worse choice regardless.
Worked example — Vayu Logistics
- Letters: V=6, A=1, Y=1, U=6, L=3, O=7, G=3, I=1, S=3, T=4, I=1, C=3, S=3
- Total: 42
- 4 + 2 = 6
- Business name number: 6
What this number does not tell you
A name number has no bearing on whether a business is viable. It is worth an hour before registration and not worth rebranding an established company over.

Include it only if people will actually say it. Most businesses are known by the shorter trading name, and that is the one to calculate, because the name in use is what the tradition weighs.
Is it worth renaming an existing business?
Rarely. An established name carries recognition, search presence and goodwill that a favourable number does not replace. This check is most useful before you register, not after.
